I had a nice flight from Takoradi to Accra today despite almost bursting in need for a pee. I waited until I got on the Starbow plane because the smell coming from the Takoradi departures toilets was a bit off putting. I got to the toilet door and waited for my turn. I rushed in, about to wee my self. I went to sit and I heard a bang. I held back the urge to wee because my samsung galaxy grand had fallen out of my pocket when my jacket was in an odd position and it had fallen into the metal toilet!! I thought phew! at least I didnt urinate on it, that would be stupid and then I reached down to pick it up. Unhygienic I know but it was my phone! As I turned around in the tiny cubicle to reach down into the toilet bowl my passport was poking out of my jean pocket. The corner of the passport managed to press the flush button at the side of the sink and in slow motion I watched the phone get sucked down at high pressure. Dammit. The metal flap closed after it. Good job or id have jumped in after it! I was scared to try and grab it to stop it going down incase my arm got stuck. That would be the only thing worse than the current situation. The flight attendant was knocking and telling me rather loudly to sit down for take off. I told her what had happened and she tried so very hard not to laugh. Another air hostess came to me and said why did you do that. As if i had done it on purpose lol. The news spread to a male air hostess at the front and soon everyone on the flight knew. Most found it very funny. One guy who was scared of flying asked if the phone was on or off incase it tampered with the in flight systems. I think its off by now I said. He agreed. The starbow staff gave me a cupcake to cheer me up. As we touched down at Kotoka airport, everyone got off and I stayed on board. The starbow inflight staff rushed to the attention of the toilet drainage vehicle who just waved back. Once the guy realized what id done he raised an eyebrow and came on board. He opened the toilet up and fished my phone out. What a brave man! I only had 20 GHC (£4) on me because id had to check my bag in at the last minute so I carefully put it in his hand. The rather dashing pilot was looking a bit confused as he waited for the staff to disembark and head to arrivals. The staff were very friendly bless them. The phone was still lit up!! Unbelievable. He wiped some poo off it and it looked a bit blueish in places because of the chemicals. I took it in a plastic bag and now its sat next to me in a bag of rice. Fingers crossed it works. Ill change the covers front and back and change the screen protector. Im glad i bought the screen protector now, because the original screen will remain poo free. Overall, not the best flight Ive ever had.....I dont deserve to own mobile phones.
