I had a phone conversation yesterday with a life long friend and brother in Christ, where we talked and shared opinions on many subjects. Among the topics we discussed was American vocabulary and writing, He made a comment that just stayed with me all day which was How the English language (specifically American English) has been dumbed down I actually thought about that all day (as if I didnt have more pressing matters to think about but in the end it is true that our expressed vocabulary (spoken or written) has given way to convenience. Example in writing in a modern text format ( jw cwd u rts) meaning - just wondering if you could read this sentence. Here is a question - have you recently wrote a note, letter, or anything where you found yourself spelling in text speak (I have) or in a conversation where you were only speaking with minimum syllable words? The point Im trying to make is our ability to compromise quality for convenience. Plainly speaking, there is a poetic, and personable relationship to be had in Jesus that cant be convenienced away for the sake of time. Im ending this post with an exert from the King James version of Pauls greeting to the Church of Ephesus. I pray that you see and feel and appreciate the poetic symmetry of this simple greeting and the message it brings. Ephesians 1:1-2 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
