I had an 85 yr old male pt yesterday, sharp as a tack, charming with a great sense of humor. It was a long transport and we talked the whole time. He told me a story about how he met his wife of 40+ years. He had been married with 2 boys before and divorced. He just retired from the Navy, traveled the world already. He was watching his son play guitar and sing in this teeny bopper bar. His son loved Bob Dylan and was covering his songs. The owner of the bar and him were the only older aged people there that night. The owner, a woman his age, offered him a beer--and that began a wonderful friendship of 43 years. They quickly made plans, after a year of dating to go to Europe for 6 months together. He purchased a Rally Yellow VW Beatle in Germany and they traveled all over Europe in it. 6 months turned into 3 years!! They got jobs there and didnt want to leave. He said he proposed to her in every country and she said no everytime. 4 times on the Eiffel Tower he said. 26 countries he asked her to marry him!! They eventually got married a few years later, and it was her idea lol. She just published a book about those first 6 months. I asked him how and how long it took for him to know she was the one for him, he said 15 min, he knew right when he met her. So sweet. Shes an accomplished painter he said and invited me to come see her work and said she sells it too, has to pay for her bar tab somehow Bahahaha
