I had an interesting day. Centenary Methodist Church where I go - TopicsExpress

I had an interesting day. Centenary Methodist Church where I go on Sundays in Danville had their annual tailgate dinner where they invite both the Boyle County and Danville football teams. They were a really nice looking bunch of young men and their families but as usual I went to the early service and Sunday School and then got out of Dodge because as a rule I am not comfortable in an overflow crowd which this was obviously going to be. I am sure that everybody had a great time. I had an appointment with one of my wonderful students at the Boyle County Library at 1:00 so I had time to kill and after a while I decided to just go get something to eat. I went to Lees Chicken Place. BIG MISTAKE!! No, the food was wonderful. But I parked close to the building because it was threatening rain and when I had finished a great fish dinner I exited the building and I was immediately in trouble. There was a line in the drive through that ran all the way to the street and every time it moved up another car entered the line. I had two vans on either side of my car and couldnt see a darn thing so that I could back out and dared not to do so because cars just kept darting by circling the building so I was stranded for about 20 minutes. Finally, I got out after much effort and as I went to exit there were no parking spaces empty except the one I had just left and the line at the drive through was still solid clear to the road. As I left there were three more cars in the street with turn signals waiting to turn into the lot. I do not know who owns this business but it sure had to have made a fortune this Sunday for the noon meal. Then tonight early I went to Ramsey Funeral Home for Randy Huffmans visitation. I will have to go back tomorrow early before work and try to get in again. There was a monster crowd. People were everywhere and cars filled the parking lot and were parked along the side of the street and I just gave up. Randy was well liked and a very good man and I know that there were hundreds of people who wanted to go by and pay their respects and I guess they all decided to go which is great and wonderful but there is only so much room in the inn and I suppose no place for me this evening. I had planned on cooking a really great supper this evening but I am now so tired that I think I will just get out some chicken salad and fix a sandwich or two and maybe eat a piece of cake and retire early. I did have a great day--really I did!! I just ran upon three big crowds everywhere I went and that is surprising.
