I had an opportunity to read the speech Anne Negri made tonight at the AATE Awards in Denver, thanking all the folks who encouraged her to write and eventually to publish With Two Wings. Here is the conclusion to her speech: And finally I want to thank my sister Jyothi and her son, my beloved nephew, Will, who were the inspiration for this story as we’ve wrestled together as a family with disability, freedom and control, parenting, and love. I am so overjoyed by the goodwill that this play has received from my community. I am honored and grateful that it has come so far. My biggest hope is that With Two Wings will continue to soar, connecting with children and their families...and with artists who believe in the power of this story.
