. I had dinner with Bassem Sabry and a mutual foreign friend (a former diplomat) at a restaurant overlooking the Nile in Zamalek just two days before my trip to Brussels. I noticed that he did not touch the food or drink and had lost much of the enthusiasm and vigour he had had on previous occasions when I had seen him. He seemed as disappointed and frustrated with the ongoing events as many of the other young revolutionary activists of his generation.
