I had severe headache, running eyes, scratchy throat and malaise - TopicsExpress

I had severe headache, running eyes, scratchy throat and malaise last couple of days and after a lot of rest am slowly coming back and now am feeling better. As I am recovering from cold this morning, I did some soul searching and decided where I am going to concentrate my energies. First family and friends, who have given me their unquestioned affection and support during hard times and shared their laughter and brought lots of joys in my life. Currently, I am working in the following projects, they are not in order of preference. 1. Milijuli Bhajan and Satsang Parivar, Starting with 5 families in October 2012, we have now more than 30 families each hosting a puja in the second Saturday of the month. It has given us spiritual and moral strength , a sense of togetherness, discipline and positive vibrations. I hope we can have more younger second genaration families and it will continue for years. 2. Nepal Education and Cultural Center (NECC). It has gradually grown from an idea on paper to Small Pasuhupati Buddha Mandir in 2000 in Lanham to its current site in Bealsville. Now as Chair of the Board of Trustees, challenge is how to raise funds and complete building the Hall and the temple. We are working very hard on this and its gaining a lot of momentum among the younger group. I am very hopeful that we will have something very concrete in the next three years we can be proud of. I hope overt time, each Nepali American Community will have its own center. 3. International Nepali Literary Society (INLS); It started with a bang and had more than 20 chapters in the USA and 30 countries all over. However, vision got clouded and organization was not optimized. I was virtually drafted as Chair, Board of Trustees and now we have a new team of very experienced and dedicated people. It has already started housecleaning and setting the right course. I am very confident that it will go back to its glory days and have its presence in more than 50 countries and be a formidable organization. We are concentrating our energies to develop prizes for writers outside Nepal and create market for their writings. It will be one of the most important organization of Nepalis outside Nepal. 4. Nepal Connectioins: Its a concept developed by Mahabir Punji for whom I have a lot of respect and admiration. Drafted by him to implement the concept outside Nepal, we have been working for the last 6 months and are in the final stages of implementing it. Its a group of 30 people, each investing $5,000 and starting business, and a certain percentage of its profits will be donated to community projects in its own area. Thus its a community empowering project and its success will encourage many such projects in other cities and may encourage pooling of much larger resources to initiate a trend of Nepali Americans to work together in larger projects like others from India, China and be a solid finically strong community. 5. Involve Nepali Americans in US public life has been my lifelong dream. It has proved to be a very tough one as most of people who are interested in public life are more active in nepali politics. So the challenge has been to mobilize people to US public life. I think. the trend is slowly emerging and we amy see some nepali Americans elected at local and state level. I will like to see some one elected to the national position or to the State leadership. It has been a daunting task with sone rays of hope here and there and am doing what I can to make it happen. So I will be working on the above projects and anyone wishing to work with us is most welcome. In the mean time, I will be supporting many worthwhile projects and organizations without being part of its leadership. I am very positive and optimistic that I will continue to enjoy affection, love and support of my friends and family members who have done so much for me and I am so grateful and thankful. As you know, my wife Indira has been my cheerleader, ardent supporter and a great friend in all these endeavors and I have great admiration and love for her. Have a great Day.
