I had some time to kill while I did a little work today. I saw on my Netflix feed a recommendation for the film, Charlottes Web with Dakota Fanning. Never saw it in theaters because at the time I was not interested. However, this story was important to me as a kid so I gave a watch. It was actually pretty good, although Fanning as usual plays a kid who is wayyyy too grown up. I was impressed overall. However, I noticed a huge plot point flaw and that was the writing in the webs. The spider, Charlotte writes only descriptive words in the web which results in this process to save the pigs life to take much longer. The spectators never thought to spare the pig from slaughter until months later. Why?Well....because descriptive words are NOT a call to action. Why not write things like, Spare the Pig, or Do Not Eat? I know its a kids movie, but thats a big error that could have been fixed.
