I had the great priviledge to meet and spend some time with David - TopicsExpress

I had the great priviledge to meet and spend some time with David Nisthaus from the NYPD. Besides developing a new friendship, it was of great interest to me, discussing and learning the differences and similarities not only between Policing in SA and the USA, but about day to day life in general. One thing is certain; the other side has grass, whether its greener or not is a choice. No matter where you go, the grass is different, thats the only certanty. In SA, one of the greatest things to have happened in the last 20 years is the freedoms we have received that have allowed us to become independent and able to thrive outside of the intititutions of the state. Whilst many people are not strong enough nor capable of functioning independently, most of us are. I dont like a dominant government. I must say that having a dysfunctional government in SA plays right into my hands. Erratic electricity and water has little to no effect on us. We saw this coming years ago. Crime? Well hell? Without threat there would be no oppertunity. Find me a place where there is no threat? Threat just varies from place to place and I thrive in unstable enviroments. So bring on the next wave. Some people fear the illusion of politics. I say, enjoy the spectacle. Its been many decades since Multinationals superceded governments in terms of global power. So in effect, Juju, you are doing a sterling job. Carry on! Many people miss the biggest threat to people in SA. Water, or the limitations thereof. Well the next few years are going to be interesting. We certainly dont have enough national or regional water contingencies to sustain our 50 million plus population, so thats going to be the game changer. A human being cannot live longer than 3 days without water. So in effect, we are approaching an interesting time. But of course, we knew about this 25 years ago. So cANCer, you missed the elephant in the room. Do I hear a Hoo-Rah!
