I had the opportunity today to listen to KMOX Sports on Sunday - TopicsExpress

I had the opportunity today to listen to KMOX Sports on Sunday Morning with Ron Jacober. A nice guy who can paint a fascinating picture of a plain old baseball game, Mr. Jacober is one who cannot retire. Having done it once he is still on the air. My attraction to KMOX goes back to childhood when we would make regular trips to St Louis to shop, doctor, orthodontist appointments and baseball games. So KMOX was the go to for traffic, weather and Cardinal baseball. I think Dad took us to Sunday Cardinals games because they started at noon (home in time for dinner), they were cheap and he scored major dad points. On the way down we listened to pre game espionage with Jack Buck and Ron Jacober. The whole CBS themed news score and KMOX feel made the day that much more special. (When you heard the CBS news fanfare opening, you knew you were in The Big City.) And in a way it gave me a tag to hold onto every time I get the chance to listen to KMOX. Perhaps this is why I prefer to listen to the Cardinals games on the radio and not watch them on TV. When Jack Buck was very ill I sent the KMOX sports department an email expressing concern. At that time no on knew how bad Jack was. Mr. Jacober wrote me back very quickly with a very heartfelt and thankful but grave note. Please pray for Jack. He is not well. Jack Buck is gone but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Mr. Jacober today. He relived every moment of the thrilling win by the St Louis Blues yesterday and made me excited about it even though I dont care for hockey nor do I know anything about the Blues. Hes a broadcaster. Not a DJ. Not a spokesman. Not a pundit or or wannabe. Hes a Broadcaster and one helluva broadcaster at that. He will retire someday and when he does, the final piece of my St Louis history will go with him. #jacoberKMOX
