I had the pleasure of visiting Twiga in Itaewon, hearing that they recently added burgers and sandwiches to their menu. I had the Twiga burger, naturally as it was the only burger on the menu:) The burger consists of a big 180 gram homemade patty, that was seasoned and REALLY thick. Chef Gregory asks you how you personally want your burger cooked, and I chose medium based on his recommendation. I must say it was a great choice! You could see a nice pink color inside the patty as a bunch of juices flowed out after the first bite. Inside the seed ciabatta bun was provolone cheese (Emmental cheese also provided depending on the day), homemade sundried cherry tomatoes and a couple slices of crispy bacon. The burger came with fresh cut potatoes (Ill never understand the restaurants that do not use fresh cut potatoes. They taste better AND are cheaper), a leafy salad and beetroot on the side that you have the option of putting in the burger depending on how fancy you want to get. Gregory also gives you ketchup, mustard mayo, and a nice mushroom sauce on the side, letting you dress the burger depending on your mood that day. I must say the ciabatta bun was a nice touch considering the burger was juicy, a lesser bun wouldve fell apart. I will caution that this burger will not be for everyone. But if your looking a step up from the truck stop dives your use to going I would really recommend it. Its a higher class burger without the high class price. All of that food for 14 000 won is a really reasonable price. In fact, I would liken it to a better version of the craftworks burger. A gourmet burger on a non-traditional bun with tons of flavour. All things considered I would put this burger right up with any burger in Itaewon, and Im already looking to going back. Gregory is the new owner and seems like a fantastic chef. I suggest you all check it out!
