I had the privilege of speaking to someone at the VA yesterday who was familiar with the Service film. I had never received notification about it, but apparently it was shown at the Indianapolis VA hospital, presumably for women veterans. Now, heres the surprising, confusing and disappointing part: It was shown in edited form. Im thinking that some issues were too close to home for VA administrators? I was completely shocked and dismayed to learn that someone would feel that there were portrayals of real experiences that could in some way offend the sensibilities of our local VA hospital. Id love to hear an explanation. Its not as thought the film is difficult to access outside the VA and its not unlikely that veterans will find their ways to the full version of the film and wonder why it was edited for Indianapolis sensibilities.
