I had this 45 when I was a kid, I listened to it all year long. Dave Seville was really a guy named Ross Bagdassarian, Sr., and he wrote, arranged and sang all the chipmunk voices. Back then, it was very difficult, because to make it sound clear you had to sing very slowly and enunciate words in a strange, exaggerated fashion, I used to do it when I was a kid with a little Wollensack reel-to-reel and Ive since had to do it in the studio, its pretty difficult. You can hear the quick breaths between every few words, because hes holding the notes so long. Now in digital, you just change the pitch and formant and twiddle with the EQ, and you do more and much better than the tape process. The B side on this 45 was not a Christmas song, but a jazzy cool 50s jam called Almost Good. You can hear that here: https://youtube/watch?v=28q4wEeJksc
