I had to remove one of my own posts yesterday, regarding the council dross pick up on Monday, I had to remove it because one of the shares was attracting a lot of comments i.e. why are they getting free services from the council, why can’t we get them, we pay more council tax than them, we’ll take our crap down there & dump it. This dross pick up is not free, we have worked for it by not fly tipping, stopping bins being burnt out, litter picks & reduced crime. Every volunteer hour is worth £11.06 of Coatham Community funding. We have reduced the cost of running the waste services in our area. Apparently people from outside our area won’t hear the volunteer hours put in & just want the service for free. They are not prepared to put the effort into their own area, to warrant the service. I took this as a harsh lesson learnt !!
