I had written up a list of similarities between the 1999 Vermeils season and the 2014 Fishers season months ago. With the newest circumstances I have made a revised list. 1. In 1997 the Rams hired Vermeil to turn around a franchise that had gone 7 straight seasons without making the Playoffs. They had the youngest team in the NFL at this point. In 2012 the Rams hired Fisher to also turn around a franchise that had gone 7 straight seasons without making the Playoffs. They also had the youngest team in the NFL at this point. 2. In Vermeils first two seasons with the team (1997 and 1998) he had losing records and the team had now gone 9 straight seasons without making the Playoffs. In Fishers first two seasons with the team (2012 and 2013) he also had losing records and the team had now gone 9 straight seasons without making the Playoffs. 3. Vermeil went to 1 Super Bowl as a young Head Coach and lost years before the Rams ever hired him. Fisher also went to 1 Super Bowl as a young Head Coach and lost years before the Rams ever hired him. 4. In Vermeils third season (1999) the Rams had their starting QB go down for the year in preseason. They were supposedly doomed and would go 10 straight seasons without making the Playoffs. In Fishers third season (2014) the Rams had their starting QB go down for the year in preseason. They were also supposedly doomed and would go 10 straight seasons without making the Playoffs. 5. Vermeils 1999 team rallied behind the backup QB and went to the Playoffs and even won the Super Bowl. Fishers 2014 team will also rally behind the backup QB........(the next part is in the future so it cant be written yet. If destiny is true the rest of the story will be completed the same way as in 1999). BELIEVE.
