I happened to be browsing my home page on FB, and saw this quote: “Disney has gone up to $96.00 per person to see a mouse!....but the church gotta beg for $20.00 for God. Something wrong!” Now, to a religion-ist this commentary may seem to be most benign. But to one who is enabled by the Father of lights to discern what ELSE is embedded in this statement, I respectfully submit: First of all, Disneyland (or Disney World) are resorts that customers pay a steep price of admission to enjoy their amenities…and yes, to see Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, et al. But isn’t the church supposed to be “the pillar and ground of the Truth”? So why would anyone make a comparison between a resort and a repository for Truth??? Not unless the same person who would compare the church to a resort thinks of the church as one. Come on, $20 as the price of admission to see the Great and Wonderful…Oz? Do folk honestly believe that they are doing the Great and Mighty God some kind of favor by giving money to other people who appeal to them for it, seeing how He gives to us breath, life and mobility? Okay, let me settle in and get to the reality here. God doesn’t need a physical place on earth to manifest Himself to us, seeing how one of His servants previously said, on His behalf: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool? What house would you build for me?” Extrapolating a bit here, could one include resorts and church buildings in this admonition? Absolutely; simply because Jesus is noted as sharing:”…they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in Truth.” So, in conclusion, I walk away from this nonsensical statement with this fact in mind: Religion-ists and churchgoers can have their playground…or church, but give me Jesus!
