I has migrated to Melbourne for two years and ever since I also attended the Montview playgroup. As a care taker of kids I had not many opportunities to know people. Over there I met the true Aussies instead of just the Asians. They had become my only friends that made me feel Australia really like a home country. I still remember Cindy invited me to her neighbourhood Christmas gathering on a little green patch. I felt warm and accepted though I didnt really know how to chat with the neighbours. Moreover, worse of all, I forgot her daughters name! Is her name Mary? : O When my daughter was facing some problem in her basketball club I found my counsellor Bec who is giving me her free consult during the playgroup time which make me feel being understood and not lonely. Afterwards, whenever she didnt come to our group, I would joke that I missed her consult! I have to mention the Kyla Tips! Kyla is the playgroup leader who gives me lots of advice on where to shop, boating, tour around and etc. She is so knowledgable that she can answer questions that I find not many others know. She is also good at solving puzzle as every time we have no clue how to put back all the toys back into the closet we left everything there for her! Ha Ha! Sorry! The most important thing for a playgroup is actually parenting. There I see through my eyes that what is right and what is wrong in a true Aussie environment. China is famous for Tiger mom so I always wonder how different is the Aussie way of parenting? The playgroup gives me answers. Sometimes my stress level is high and am kicking out my stress over the kids. Someone advised me to lock up myself! What a great idea! It didnt save me but it saved my kids!!! Geoff you are brilliant! Actually Geoff is another great guy that I always looked up to and learn from. He is the Mr Handyman that I can always pull questions at. Everything about the earth he knows a bit! Now I dragged him into my senior basketball team and he was rewarded with a bend pinky, shoulder injury, bumps and bruises all over the body! Ha Ha! I also like to say special thank to Ange that she take the initiative to email me the Aussie slang online dictionary and tell me to knock myself out with it ! Ange: should I use my iPhone4 with the online dictionary website on and hit my head? Here in the playgroup we have also the true MOM that is so good at making cakes, snacks and all those special treats that both kids and parents love. Jo is the woman that looks really BIG in whatever aspects! I can keep writing this on and on as there are so many fun things, good friends and sweet memories there. I want to say that everyone of you give me a hand in making me a true Aussie, making Melbourne my home. Thanks to all of you and wish we can still keep our friendship after I left. Lastly, I have to confess that many a times when I am smiling while you are talking that means I really dont understand what you are talking about! Bear with me please! : P
