I hate to keep bringing up David Moyes, but his failure last - TopicsExpress

I hate to keep bringing up David Moyes, but his failure last season led to some highly misguided criticism of the squad. I have heard so much about how our squad is awful and how we need an overhaul and a massive clear-out but personally I don’t agree. United have had problems in midfield but aside from that most of the squad is quite excellent. I know guys like Nani, Young, Anderson, Kagawa, Jones, Smalling and Cleverly have been criticised for not being good enough; I think they just have been victims of a frustrated fan base. We have won so many times that last season was just too big a shock that everybody just wrote off the team, it’s the grass is greener syndrome. We look at Madrid, Barca, City and we just want to go out and buy as they are to have a sense of security in our players but the truth is, these are guys with multiple medals, and Champions league runners up credentials to their names. Moyes nearly killed the fighting spirit in a lot of these guys and criticising them in his first few press conferences did little to help. His Philosophy was in suck stark contrast to what these guys are used to and most of the players just out right rejected it. As human beings we tend to be reluctant to trust and follow a leader that does not inspire us. Maybe Moyes could have been a success with a team of player that trusted him and believed in his philosophy, I highly doubt this, but the problem was always that he would have to inherit a team and it’s not easy for someone with no winning experience to come and leader a bunch of serial winners. Under LvG, we will get to see what most guys are made off; this is a coach who they believe in, who has won a lot and is very very very gifted when it comes to developing skilled players. I will only judge our team after the first 3 months or so; but what I have seen gives me belief that our season is going to be made or broken by the results we get against last season’s top 4 as I think we can beat Everton and Spurs easy. In my opinion we only lack 2 Midfielders to be on the same level as Europe’s elite.
