I hate to say back in the day because I aint old, but.....Back in the day, we went to school (CPS) every single day, even on the cold days. We had 2 days off in 15 years, and this generation has had 4 days off in the span of 1 year. Hell, I WALKED (no rides) 7 blocks to school every day in the winter. I walked backwards (so my lips and eyelids didnt get frost bitten) on the side of the street (sidewalks were never shoveled), had on 2 scarfs, mittens on top of my gloves, 2 pairs of long johns (who cares if it was gym that day), wool socks, big boots, extra thick skully, a hoodie, a sweater, a puff coat, 2 t-shirts, a bullet proof vest (ppl were getting shot then too) and whatever other trick my moms and grandma had to beat the cold,. We are born and bred CHICAGOANS (not Texas, not Georgia), a rare breed, who the hell cares if its 10 degrees, -10 degrees, -20, a blizzard, snow storm watch, snow storm advisory. Bundle your narrow behind up and get there, and have a big snowball fight before and after school, during recess and even during the fire drill. This stuff is nothing new! These darn Chicago Bears has gotten the whole city soft (shade, yes shade). #rioci
