I have 5 children, 11 if you count my stepchildren who will always be a part of my life and whom I will always be there for. ALWAYS. More than that if you take into account I am responsible for the children of my people/community. Two of my children are Autistic. I have been around people who have claimed to care for me, but in secret (or not in secret) seem disgusted by Autism as if its a communicable disease. They are embarrassed by the odd behavior, the sometimes seemingly inappropriate noises and movements, or just the diagnosis in general. When I meet people who clearly are ignorant to Autism I try to educate them. If after that they still get the willies around my sons I REFUSE to deal with them. But by the same token I have met people who have met my sons and treat them like their own. ... Who havent restricted their minds to what a child is supposed to be like. ... Ive got fam who will hold, hug, love, and care for them without chains locked around their brains. And that is a beautiful thing. To all those Ive met in the past who have treated my sons like they have the plague its your loss. Learning to love an individual with special needs shows you are freer in your mindset them most. And youre just in general a good loving person. I appreciate the extended family who have learned to love my family in its totality. Asé
