I have a WAG=Wild Ass Guess?? as to how the Boyeeghter Bay, Rosguill, County Donegal may? have got the name of The Murder Hole ? it has been stated that waves in the bay get as high as 12 feet and crash mightily. I am guessing???? that perhaps local residents back in the 1600"s equated the crashing waves, perhaps on sailors or fisherman boats-came crashing down from over their heads, to "The Murder Holes" of the castles where they would pour boiling water or oil from the holes (Murder Holes) in the roof onto the attackers to either kill or seriously injure them.
