I have a bit to say about the show in Ky I went to last night. The USDA was there like they are at many shows it was a hard decision for me whether to show my horses or not due to the mandatory penalties even tho I knew I had nothing wrong with my horses , if they decide to write you up for something there is a mandatory 2 weeks to one year suspension based on human ( not scientific) opinion the thoughts of one person saying i cant show for an entire year is the scariest thought.I dont blame anyone for not putting their horses thru with that kind of repercussion on the line. The DQP and USDA were very friendly which was great but I have also seen them with an attitude. If you dont show Walking, Racking or Spotted Saddle horses you have no idea what a worry it is for everyone. And I know people say if you have nothing to hide you wont have a problem but that is just not always the case. Last year the walking industry season ended with 98.6 percent compliance nothing is ever going to be 100 percent, Im not saying we dont need inspections but is walking/racking horses ever going to get the credit they deserve for being close to 100 percent legal? It is heartbreaking to see other breeds come from their barns tacked up and in the saddle heading straight in the ring.Im not saying we shouldnt still have inspections, we should There is now a bill in Congress HR1518 to try and remove the shoes, pads and action devises despite that near 100 percent I just dont think its right and think credit should be given where credit is due. That is all.
