I have a bottle of Oud that I hardly ever sample but when I do, I know only those initiates understand its mystery. It is an acquired taste, that said, once you have experienced the woody, heady aroma you are hooked. Western perfumers are getting more savvy to the deep woody notes in the Oud, and are adding it to the better perfumes. This aromatic is ceremonial and deep, it transcends mere incense, and it definitely a step above and a step into a sense sensation.
