I have a few SOLUTION suggestions on how to reduce the cost of Healthcare in the US: 1) I suspect, the biggest time and cost factor with medical costs in the US, is all of the paperwork, rules, and regulations that clog up the system. A lot of people (and supplying their health care must be added to the cost), including expensive lawyers must be hired by hospitals, and Doctors, just to deal with this mountain of paper, and to make sure no rules or regulations are broken. That is a huge cost that will never go away, and only get worse as new regulations are added to the pile. If you want to see healthcare costs go down --- petition congress to Simplify and Shorten rules (drop the lengthy "Lawyer Speak"), and focus on the most important regulations, like safety --- so no one gets the wrong foot amputated, or gets an incurable disease after coming in with a common cold. 2) Do old regulations ever get removed from the books, or do they just sit on all the books, stagnant, and adding to the pile of pages that must be dealt with? If so, that should be changed. 3) The system could be made more efficient if patients were allowed to go Directly to specialists instead of a General Practitioner first all of the time. There is a shortage of General Practitioners in the US. They do not make as much money as Specialists do, therefore that type of job is not as appealing. Perhaps a website could be set up, where patients fill out a Questionnaire to determine which specialist they should go to. 4) The cost of a Medical Education is ridiculously high. Doctors take forever to pay back student loans. That needs to change. 5) Something needs to be done to reduce the cost doctors must pay for their insurance. Sorry to say, but I think there needs to be some oversight as to whether or not high insurance company fees are justified. Doctors and medical workers are overworked. If they were allowed to get sufficient rest, I think there would be fewer mistakes, and fewer lawsuits, thus lowering insurance costs. 6) Putting all info on a Computer friendly card that has updated info on it would help speed up the system. 7) There are a lot of good ideas from countries around the world that have already tried different things. Pick out the best ones that work, and incorporate them. 8) If Congress, the President, and their families were made to live under the same system as everybody else, then they would quickly notice where the problems are, and be quick to fix them.
