I have a great many things to be thankful for this year, but above all things I am thankful, awed, and humbled by the generosity of those who have stepped forward to support my family throughout this incredibly difficult time. Nearly a full year after my sister Katelyn gave birth to beautiful twin girls, suffered a massive stroke, and began a long recovery – the new family is strong in spirit, literally taking baby-steps forward, and is surrounded by healing thoughts and love. The twins father, Louis, has taken on the full-time job of caring for the babies, along with my parents, Ken and Maggie, who- though retired- have suddenly found themselves supporting the new family, and simultaneously managing Katelyns recovery. Louiss family as well as a small army of friends and loved ones have offered invaluable help. The network of caring doesnt end there. Your prayers and emotional support have bolstered the new family through tremendously trying times, and financial contributions to the Help Sasha and Annika fund have provided the ability to hire a part-time caretaker – making an unimaginable situation become manageable. My sisters recovery will take years and years, and the actual outcome of that recovery is uncertain. Those of you who have contributed time, love, and financial support have made the seemingly impossible, possible. I cannot thank you enough. For those of you who have pledged on-going support, and those who will consider making donations in the future- your contributions will enable the family to continue working with a part-time caretaker, and your generosity is literally paving this new familys road to a happy, healthy, sustainable future.
