I have a horrible feeling that someone has upset the apple cart at Everton Football Club. It may be more than one person. Some players body language doesnt look right to me. I have a feeling there could well be a couple of departures in January or the Summer and not because we need to sell but because the players or there agents (the latter probably) have had their heads turned. There is just something missing at the moment, that spark from last season has vanished. Ill probably regret it but I am not going on Thursday (I know the game is pointless anyway as we are top of the group). Ive bored you all with it before, but it will be only the 13th home game since September 1985 that Ive missed. One person not going doesnt matter a jot I know, but its the principle, I just cant face being bored for two matches in 5 days. I never ever thought Id hear myself say that about watching Everton, but they are boring and Martinez and his players need to change that. My Father and Uncle went to the player of the month dinner on Monday and even Jagielka looked pissed off my Dad said. He was also talking to a former Everton player from the 80s (wont say who for obvious reasons - hes employed by the club), but he said players today quite literally have no incentive. What they get paid is obscene, the public complain about the Prime Minister on £141,000 a year, when footballers (some of them) get that in a week. Years ago players were on win bonuses, so they didnt mind playing 2 games in a week, 3 sometimes with replays, they also had houses to pay for, the worst players in the Premier League can buy a house outright in a few months these days. Agents also have a lot to answer for, they are bastards basically, not very nice I know but that is what they are. Yes it can be argued that the Europa League has harmed our league form with having a smaller squad than some teams, but I do think there is more to it than that. All I ask for as a fan is honesty Roberto, I really dont want to be patronised and have my intelligence (the little I have) insulted with matters relating to the team and performances. The programme notes make me cringe at times. Positive positive positive doesnt always work Bobby, the players sub consciously think they are all doing OK. It would do you no harm to come out and say we were dreadful, lacked any cutting edge, drive or determination and because of that Goodison is like the cemetery over the road for atmosphere, and lets face it it has been. Why? because we havent been entertained. We cant just gloss over it ladies and gentlemen and say oh stop slagging Bobby off or get behind the team or go and support the other lot over the park - they are feeble pathetic arguments. We need players with pride, determination and willing to go that extra mile and take chances. I can except defeat when weve really tried and given it our all, at times the opposition are simply better than us. But I cant except half hearted performances, one shot at goal all game, passing backwards for a third of the 90 minutes, and then bull shitted about the performance. The game is all about opinions but if anyone seriously thinks that weve been entertaining this season, especially at home, then you must have watched different games of football than me. Our motto is Nil Satis Nisi Optimum - not - Nothing but bullshit will do. Players & Coaching staff - get your acts together. Martyn Barber
