I have a jinx. Im sure of it - nothing goes right. All I have to do is make a plan, set a date - even just make an expression of interest, and out comes the damn thing, dancing up and down and scattering its mean little jinxy tacks in my road, all ready form me to step on Today, I had to go to the Opthalmologist for some minor surgery. Minor *expensive* surgery. When I was booked for it, I organised money with the bank - major dramas as the *real* bank got itself fouled up with the *virtual* bank, and screwed up the application. They advertise 24 hours - took a week :( Finally got that sorted. Paid for the new glasses, stashed the surgery money, did all the right things - so the weather turns nasty. Been lovely for weeks - today we got our first really hot day: 24Cminimum last night (Nessun Dorma weather - no-one sleeps) this afternoon it hit 38 where I was. Isnt that fun? But the Jinx was doing overtime, and excelled itself: the Doctor for some reason declined to do the surgery today - I have to go back next month. (When no doubt about it, the Jinx will have something else lined up). Oh yes - did I forget to mention the Doctors staff had lost my last contribution to the surgeons retirement fund, and wanted me to pay them again? That took a good half hour to sort out - along with a donated lesson (from me) in how to keep a double entry account book , before they would concede that *that* entry - there - corresponded to *that* entry - there - and thus cancelled each other out ::mutters darkly: computers are supposed to make these things foolproof:: :( Anyhoo: that is my Beef of the Day - grilled under a high heat - I am now home, and slowly getting over driving my confounded gopher for ruddy miles in the heat. The Botanic Gardens were lovely, though - I came home that way. Everything in bloom, all the leaves fresh and green (hasnt been hot eniough, long enough to sere everything yet) and the rose gardens looking spectacular. Much too hot to walk around in, though - I kept under the shade of those wonderful trees. now I need more tea!
