I have a love/hate relationship with facebook. The love part is the connection it helped me make with some of my favorite people like Marie Baldys, Nana Frazier, Pamela Lynn, Andrew Howarth, Elise E Walkington, and many others. I met my honey, Scotty Grim, because I made a plea on facebook for help with repairs to my house. I am fairly certain, however, that thru Occupy, or the connection of mutual friends, I would have met these people even if I had never joined facebook. They were all meant to be in my life. The hate part is that it is so easy to get sucked into this vortex and lose valuable and irretrievable time in it that could be better spent connecting with people in person. I am returning to school tomorrow for the first time in probably 20 years in order to get my CNA, as the first step in the process of providing palliative in home care for hospice patients. I will be 50 next month, and feel that I might have actually (finally!) found my calling. In an effort to focus my time and energy on listening to and following my path to my best ability, I find it to be necessary to break up with facebook. I value the relationships I have here, but the ones that are most dear to me will not be lost, because they are lovingly maintained in real life. Wishing all the best to those of you I dont see often. Maybe getting off of here will create a space for more personal interaction. Im going to let this status here for a few days and then hopefully this attempt at breaking up will take. Much love and all the best to everyone who reads this.
