I have a new annoyance: the use of the phrase going forward in the sports world. Going forward, were going to try and suck less. Going forward, Im going to encourage my players to not beat their romantic partners, and, going forward, when they invariably do, at least make sure theres no cameras around. Our plans, going forward, is to sign a high dollar free agent past their prime who will make zero contributions to the success of the team...going forward. Going forward, I think the key to victory is scoring more points than the other team, or, have our defense prevent the opposing offense from scoring as much as we do. You get the picture. Its exhausting to listen to, and just lazy speech. And once youre aware of how often this phrase gets abused ad infinitum on sports oriented programming, you cannot NOT hear it like nails on a chalkboard...going forward. Hey fellas, how about we throw the occasional in the future or as we progress or given time in there to shake it up a bit? Going forward, surely, this isnt asking too much.
