I have a question about modesty in the Avesta. Apart from the sudra and kusti, is there a dress-code encouraged in scripture? If you look at old pictures of Parsees, we notice that many women wore the traditional Indian saree or a long tunic. And men wore long beards, and kept their heads covered at all times. In Iran, Zoroastrian women wore colourful tunics (not unlike the salwar kameez). However, many young Iranian Zoroastrians today seem to dress in a very, perhaps overly, immodest way (probably a way to provoke the ruling Islamic government): many Iranian women for example cover their faces in make-up and dye their hair. Many Zoroastrian men get large Farvahars tattooed on their bodies. Theres therefore a very big difference between Zoroastrians of the older generation, and those today. So I was wondering if the Avesta mentions anything about a dress code, head covering...
