I have a question that I need the more seasoned NAGVA players to hopefully give some insight. How are unrated players supposed to get any chance of being rated, of even getting to play, if the more established teams, wont take a chance on recruiting them. Ive been told that the best thing to do is go to an open play in a city that has had a sanctioned tourney or open play with members that are involved in NAGVA and let them see what your skill level is. But this isnt an easy remedy when, for instance, there is no nearby NAGVA representation for players in the Carolinas that doesnt involve a 3-5hr drive to Atlanta or a 4-6hr drive to Baltimore. I have seen so many unrated players post on the websites Matchmaker ad section. And spoken to unrated players, that 3 tourneys later, still havent been picked up by a team for a tournament. And while I get it, unrated players can be that one element that can decide potentially winning or losing a tournament, theres gonna be hesitation to wanna pick up one....take a chance on one. But at the same time, how will they ever get that chance, if they arent given one. And I kind of went off on a tangent. But i guess rather than look for an answer to the question, I mostly wanted to shed some light on the situation. And hope in doing so, the unrated players get that opportunity to play. Thanks everybody! Hope to meet you all eventually!
