I have a story to tell. A story of heart-break. A story of Santa and Zwarte Piet. The role of Zwarte Piet in The Netherlands is challenged. Protesters want to eliminate Zwarte Piet because of racial discontent. I know this is false because as a child in Holland we celebrated SinterKlaas and Zwarte Piet. The protesters do not know the whole story. I know the story of Zwarte Piet, and everyone should know the truth how Santa inspires and change lives. This is my take. SANTA AND PIET I am embarrassed to have the nature of, Zwarte Piet, questioned. The story of Zwarte Piet is a story about Santa, who was in need of a helper. Santa saw a spirited lad sitting on the side walk twirling a can. Santa was inspired to meet him. He seemed to have so much energy and wasting it. The young blue-eyed and blond curly hair lad was endowed with great sprinting skill. He could sprint like a leopard and climbed like a squirrel. Santa took Piet under his wing because he had an issue with sloth, and Santa desired to teach the skill of work ethics. Santa hired Piet during the Christmas season to deliver toys to little tots. The children of Holland wrote a letter to Santa and petition all sort of things like Tonka Trucks and Barbie Dolls. And children would promise the utmost excellent behavior towards parents and be kind to siblings. The promise of good behavior would be rewarded, and children anticipated the moment of the Christmas season. Santa was ready to bless the children and give the presents. The list of Santa was long, and many deliveries had to be made. Piet was always late and Santa worked to hone his skill and deliver him from sloth. One day, Santa was very upset and scold Piet to pay attention and be on time. Santa gave Piet a bag loaded with presents and deliver to each house. Piet took the presents and took out his watch. Oh, I have only a short time to deliver. The sun is ready to rise, and I have little time to fulfill the list. Piet sat down, and sweat was dropping off his cheek and gasped frustrated that his goal is not met. Suddenly, the lad got up and started to sprint and jump on top of a roof to the chimney. Every house has a chimney in Holland and during the winter time the chimney was well equipped with pitch dark black coal. Piet wiggled and slid into the chimney with the bag of toys and a note from Santa. He finished his task of delivery, and Santa was so proud. And when Santa saw him, he laughed and pulled his long snow-white beard. Piet, I am pleasantly surprised you finished the list. Nevertheless, what happened to you. You are pitch black. Piet was elated that he did not disappoint Santa, and said, I am happy you are pleased. The Lord blessed me with sprinting and jumping skills. I love to jump from the roof-tops, wiggle, and slide. And when the toys are by the fire-place I crawl like a squirrel out of the chimney and sprint to the next house. Santa bellowed and raised his hands, This is a miracle, and from this day forwards I will call you Zwarte Piet. Now, go home and wash the coal off. And I will see you tomorrow. Now, I know that the children will receive their toys in time. Santa wept with joy, and the next-day Santa saw a spirited wide-eyed lad with striking blonde hair and fine streaks of simmering black strands. The boy found his passion working with Santa during the holiday season.
