...I have achieved a degree of clarity, I think....after seven hours of gutting and reclamation, roughly 80 pages of the 278 remain....amazing, though, how much LESS daunting the task of re-inventing the novel just became....yes, I trashed 200 pages (much of it painstakingly written), but in doing so, Ive alleviated countless narrative distractions, thematic blind alleys, and superfluous sub-plots....I still dont have all the answers, but Ive definitely gained focus!....ive settled on five limited POVs, down from sixteen...and yes, I killed many darlings...some great characters who just werent relevant enough....if I can come to a few philosophical revelations in the coming months, I believe the center will hold....still gonna be a batshit crazy novel, but it will be cogent, at least according to its own logic...whew....
