I have always been convinced that I had Native American blood and - TopicsExpress

I have always been convinced that I had Native American blood and that it was part of my heritage, even though older family members said not, and there is no record of it in extensive geneaologies. Still, I was convinced--a gut feeling-and I was convinced that it was probably Osage blood. I wanted to find out before I died (bucket list). I was shocked and disappointed that I didnt have one drop of NA blood when I got the results of my DNA test this summer. I did get another interesting surprise, however. I am 6% Scandanavian. Never knew. This leads me to the conclusion that part of my heritage includes Vikings which invaded Ireland and Scotland. (or Picts) Did they settle there and intermingle with the natives by choice of all concerned? Was it a non-consensual pairing? If so, what were the feelings of the woman involved and the consequences? If she was already married to a native when this happened, did her husband reject the child? Was he mean to it? Did she try to pass off the child as his own and he never knew? What did happen? It is dangerous to have an imagination as vivid as mine. If you are curious about your own heritage, I highly recommend getting one of these tests. I think you will find some surprises! Such is the soap opera of life...
