I have always said that the people involved in the CIA and the KGB and the SS and the NSA and the gestapo have far more in common with each other than they will ever have with the citizenry they are pretending to protect. I think that in order to really fit in to any such organization there would be a tremendous pressure for you to become what any ordinary citizen would easily recognize as evil. I think if all of these agencies would disappear the world would be a better place. I think disbanding these organizations would be suicidal. They already have strong ties to multinational for-profit (when I say it you can read Fascist) alliances and the pretense (I hope and trust that for many individuals in these agencies it is more than just a pretense) of patriotism is what keeps them within whatever bounds they are arbitrarily setting for themselves. It is pretty clear that they have little or no concern with the bounds their governments set for them.
