I have amazing children, and when I say that I include the women in my sons lives! Natasha Brooks has manned the post at Momoos bedside since night before last. She has never hesitated to do whatever Momoo needs. She sends us continual updates and has stood up for Momoo and protected her at every turn in our absence. Robert spent the first night with her and went to work the next day and returned yesterday and was there to hear what the oncologist had to say as they stood in our place as we try to recover from exhaustion. Mackenzie Brooks shows up when we need him most. Day before yesterday is a perfect example. Momoo had a visit from hell to the GI lab. She was only supposed to be gone an hour and was gone almost 3. When she returned to the room she was spent. She didnt realize Mackenzie was there as they encouraged her to scoot from the gurney to the bed. She got the bottom half on the bed and then just collapsed in exhaustion. As they encouraged her to move her shoulders to the bed and it became painfully obvious she had no strength left to do so and without hesitation Mackenzie leaned across the bed, scooped up her upper body and gently put her top half in the bed. As his long arms worked their way under her, she opened her eyes to see his face and the biggest grin on her face ever was such a gift to see as she whispered Hi Baby, thank you. All the nursing staff quickly looked at me and I shrugged and smiled through tears and said, he picked me up on a mountainside in Ecuador, thats his Momoo. Hes gonna do whatever he can to help her. On Wednesday the 8th I had driven from Tennessee straight to the emergency room. At 9:30pm Terry insisted I go home and get some sleep. I text Mackenzie and Leigh on the way to see if they were at the house. I knew Mike was at a meeting at church and I had to get my suitcase and Momoos suitcase upstairs so I could do our laundry before returning to the hospital the next day. Mackenzie said he was sorry he was still working. Leigh Copeland immediately text and said she would be at the house waiting on me, and she was. As I would take something out of the car and barely get it to the kitchen she would be taking it from me and running it up the stairs. Time after time I would have 2 arm loads and take a few steps and she would be there to take it from me and run it up the stairs. I would have never made it without her and Mike would have come home to find me crying at the bottom of the stairs. She offered to stay and do the laundry so I could go to bed, but I knew I would be up a while anyway and told her thanks, which isnt enough to any of them. Im blessed and highly favored among women. My children are always there for me and willing to do whatever I need.
