I have an idea, so just hear me out. Its getting colder by the hour; we can see our breaths in the air and the wind in our faces. We go to work when its dark and get home when its dark. When we get home, we get a hot meal, have a hot drink and cuddle up under blankets in warm onesies and pyjamas. We wake up in the morning and have just five more minutes before we must leave the warmth of our beds and step into the morning cold. For us, the cold is just a small inconvenience; we only have to bundle up for the short period of time outside and can look forward to the warmth that awaits indoors. However, there are people that dont have this luxury. There are people who have no homes, who dont get to experience that just five more minutes in a warm bed before stepping into the morning cold. Instead they pray for five more minutes in the spot theyve found in some doorway, away from the biting wind but still amidst the cold. They dont get to go home at night and enjoy a hot meal and the luxury of central heating, instead they search for a place where they wont be moved for a couple of hours whilst bundled in the only clothing they have, hiding their faces in their sleeping bag, just warm enough to only have a slight shiver. Unfortunately, this is the reality for thousands of people across Wales and the winter months can have devastating effect. So this is my idea; I want to get a group of people together in Cardiff to do something worthwhile. I would like as many people as possible to donate/buy from charity shops hats, scarves, socks, gloves and any winter clothes that you dont need any more to hand out to as many of the homeless population as possible in Cardiff. I would like to take these items of clothing and hand them out, alongside a cup of tea/coffee/hot chocolate during the next couple of months (perhaps once or twice a week), wed be providing things that we take for granted and perhaps helping the homeless population be a little bit warmer.
