I have become increasingly annoyed at the amount of people and businesses jumping on the Royal British Legions poppy appeal. It seems to me that people are producing enamel poppies and selling them with the wording denoting a certain percentage of the cost going to the RBL poppy appeal. My contention is that many people are buying these poppies as much as a fashion statement as anything else under the guise that they are still showing respect. The idea of the APPEAL is just that an APPEAL for funds along with an act of remembrance. I respectfully urge everyone if you can afford £10 or £20 on a poppy then get one from the RBL collectors where all that you donate goes to the Legion not just a small percentage, then next year buy another. Thank you
