I have been a part of Vietnamese Culture Night at UCLA during every single one of my 4 years here and I can say that this experience has been the most meaningful one to me because it hits home. My 1st and 2nd year I danced on the stage with UCLA VSU Modern. My 3rd year I had the honor of playing the role of Ong Ngoai (Grandpa) as a part of Drama. This year Im working behind the scenes as one of the Producers of the show. This has not only allowed me to spread the messages of my culture, but it has allowed me to learn more about my own heritage, especially as a 2nd generation Vietnamese-American. I find myself talking to my parents more and more about their journey to America and I strongly believe that their story along with countless others need to be shared at this 40th Anniversary of the Fall of Saigon in 2015 and beyond that. Every year we struggle to fund our production, which can run upwards to $32,000. Budget cuts and increased expenses have impacted the process of our show significantly. We have searched for many avenues of attaining funding and this year we are initiating a GoFundMe in order to reach out to donors who believe in our message of spreading cultural awareness. If you are interested in supporting Vietnamese Culture Night, please visit our page below. Every dollar counts and every share is greatly appreciated! Simply spreading and sharing our GoFundMe page would mean the world to us! _____________________________________ gofundme/UCLAVCN2015 _____________________________________ January 19th 2015 Royce Hall, UCLA Please visit vcn.vsubruins for more info about us and our cause!
