I have been a staunch supporter of Obamacare until I saw Virginias version of it yesterday. Oh, it waives the pre-existing illness clause, but here in the Confederate south they dont want any part of that black devils Nazi insurance, so to buy in at the lowest bronze level is $476 a month with a $12,000 deductible. What the what? Thats not affordable care! I actually had a health care worker say, I wouldnt want to have anything to do with Obamas socialized insurance! Why dont you just go get Medicaid instead? O-o The hospital refused to give me a CT scan because I couldnt self pay $1450.00 in full on zero notice. The GP doctor I saw after that couldnt officially advise me, but strongly encouraged me to go through the ER to get the scan. He said it was one way to beat the system. He was convinced the ER would admit me and treat me. Instead they grudgingly did the CT scan, then cut me loose. Im waiting for follow-up advice from the surgeon and the GP doctor today regarding the test results. Based on the level of incompetence and indifference, I have a feeling Ill be waiting forever. The surgeons office still hasnt sent for my recent test results from Texas. They have been too busy. Too busy to fax a single request for vital information. Im at a loss. I cant get treated without a diagnosis. I cant get a diagnosis without treatment. Meanwhile, its been 8 painful weeks of constant suffering. In less than a month Ive been to the ER twice and have seen 3 different doctors. They keep passing me along saying the next doctor can help. Or the next. Obamacare sucks. Yanno what doesnt suck? Socialized health care. Yanno the closest thing to that in our country? Medicaid. If I qualified for Medicaid I wouldnt have been denied a CT scan yesterday. When I went through the ER, they wouldnt have stopped at one inconclusive test - they would have kept looking. I wouldnt have a surgeon hesitate to treat me because he might not get paid. I know that for a fact because Ive had Medicaid before. I could see a doctor when I had the flu or broke my leg or needed a colonoscopy. I could afford the token prescription co-pay. I could have an operation without teetering on bankruptcy. Does anyone EVER say, My insurance is the BEST! They never deny payments or kick back bills or overcharge!? But say, Lets have affordable health care for everyone! and people get their panties in a wad. Our health care system is broken. Its not just a matter of affording treatment, its actually getting treatment you cant afford not to have.
