I have been able to source a little more of the towns history for us. Here is Government Road in Nelson Bay in 1918 looking from the Church street intersection. At right is the school residence, homes of Charles Laman, the Lunds, and the Hunters, then further down is the Ocean View Guesthouse. On the left is Charles Diemars home. The little white window right near the LHS edge of the photo is my old bedroom window! That house had some much history written in its walls. The internal door jambs were made of red cedar shipped over from the north side of the harbour, carted up the hill and then hand cut and framed up. I have a bookcase made from some of that salvaged red cedar.
