I have been absent from Facebook for many months, but todays events have devastated me and I feel compelled to speak. The president, or should I say....The Dictator For Life has lifted the embargo on Cuba and we will now resume relations with Cuba. According to Obama, what happened in Cuba was a long time ago and its time to forgive and move on. REALLY? What about people like me who fled the communist regime? What about the atrocities against human rights which are perpetrated against the Cuban people every day? Gays are put in concentration camps! People wait in line for days to get a morsel of food! My father had made arrangements for us to flee the country in the 60s. Castro himself walked into my fathers bank with a garrison of militia and told my father that this was NOT his bank any more. It now belonged to the peoples republic of Cuba. Before he died he told me he was sending us to America a place where we could be free from oppression. When we got to the airport to board the plane my mother was told her visa was revoked. she sent me here by myself at the age of 7. I spent a year in refugee camp where we studied English under a circus tent. I was then sent to a foster family whose physical and mental abuse has scarred me for life. But then, that was all a long time ago and we must move on. My life, my familys struggle has just been invalidated. This has nothing to do with the freedom of the Cuban people this is all about financial gain for left wing radicals. If crimes against humanity have an expiration date whos next in line for forgiveness Polpot? Mao Tse Tung, Idi Amin Dada or maybe Hitler?
