I have been apart of a great organization for the past 12 year. Our company has provided fantastic benefits to our employees while also paying their month premiums and contributing to their private HSA. Yet today we get this concrete information after asking the question: What will our choices be next year to provide our employees the coverage they except and have enjoyed? In January 2014, companies with fewer than 50 employees will have two penalty-free options: 1. Continue to sponsor a group plan with a different provider because your current one is leaving the state of Montana, and budget for extremely large cost increases. Keeping in mind there are only a very few that will allow an HSA and make sure you look at and talk with everyone because if you offer family medical plan their spouses and children must join the family plan and may not shop else were, despite the cost. 2. Cancel your group plan and direct your employees to the Health Insurance Marketplace. I have so much emotion going on. But what it comes down to, is I feel for my employees..... my co-workers.... my FRIENDS in this small business that we all pour our daily efforts into each and everyday. This is one of those things/times that give me pause.
