I have been asked by a few people the same question. It is - TopicsExpress

I have been asked by a few people the same question. It is strange because one of them has never been to church at all, one grew up Catholic, and one is from another religion. And the same question keeps being presented to me over and over by random people. And I thought I knew the answer, but before I answered... I had to read a lot. The question was why do Christians pray to Jesus or anyone else BUT to God? Did Jesus literally say we are to pray to him? I did know from all the reading I have done that Jesus said for us to pray to God in his name. I did know THAT is all over the Bible. And I know The purpose Jesus came was to restore mankind to be in a right relationship with God our Father. I have read the Bible so much but I guess I hadnt paid much attention to that aspect. I found a book called The Greatest Words Ever Spoken which takes only what Jesus literally said in the bible and separates it by the topic of what was said. And honestly, there is so much Jesus said about prayer that I cannot list on here. But I did find out in some passages it does not say it word for word... But it can be taken either way. There are some verses that clearly say to pray to My Father in my name and some are just not very clear. Hmmm.... ??? So why I bring this up is to say that if one person feels convicted praying directly to God in Jesus name and another feels led to pray to Jesus directly.... I have read enough to know that I am not a judge. Because each one of us is accountable for our own actions and will have to give an account for what we have done to God Alone! Romans 14:12-13(So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister) So I say to everyone. If you have a question on this, it is your responsibility to read and make your own decision. Find out for yourself what the Bible says to you. I dont really see the point in expressing what I have found because each one of us must learn to take what we hear from others, pastors, teachers... It anyone and go to the Bible and look it up and read it ourselves. We are not to simply take what we think is right from what we hear, but know first hand what we believe and why. God sees the hearts and motives behind every action ... And on that note I find comfort Proverbs 16:12(People may be pure in their own eyes, but the LORD examines their motives.)
