I have been asked to conduct a follow up interview at 6:30 - TopicsExpress

I have been asked to conduct a follow up interview at 6:30 tonight. David from WRBL asked me to comment on the public out reach we received to day so here will be my response Are you satisfied with the public safety reach out today? First I would like to ensure it is understood that our group is not being critical of our police force. I am extremely proud of Columbus’s and Muscogee county Law Enforcement personnel. They are just like soldiers , a soldier wants to dispatch terrorists and police want to dispatch criminals and they do it with zeal but we both rely on some form of elected officials to ensure we have the resources necessary to do it…. Politics aside I do not think either administration is doing a very good job of supplying those resources and the terrorists and criminals know it. I received feedback and support from Seth Brown from the Crime Prevention office today and he was very understanding and eager to help but again without resources there is only so much they can do. So to answer your question ..We are encouraged but not pacified, time will tell. Did you see the recent arrests? I saw the news about the arrests last week of two individuals associated with break ins in our area, That is good start but I am not convinced that those two are the only ones responsible for 15 known break ins in 2 ½ months.. it is bigger than that again I think it is organized … so if public safety just focuses on our area they will move to another part of the city and you will be repeating interviews like this until we determine the root of the problem. I am not sure if the guy identified today is even directly related to our community break in’s. I understand they put a lot of pressure on the North and East Columbus break-ins and it only pushed this to our area. So I think if the root of the crime is discovered and addressed while still arresting those committing the crime eventually we will make headway. I do not have a political agenda, I do not have a political bone in my body but I do have loved ones in my house and stuff that I have worked hard for and I would like to keep it as I am sure most Columbus citizens do . People who do not feel those concerns are being meet have choices or options 1. Make it a community concern and effect change though political activism or if you have the means move… if the people who have the means to move and they decide to then all you will have left in this portion of Columbus are the unfortunate folks who lack the means and the criminals… that is not the Columbus I want to live in.
