I have been away for several weeks, and so I have fallen behind in introducing more Heroic Women. Today we celebrate Elizabeth Packard, falsely accused and institutionalized for insanity by her husband (no due process of law required) because she disagreed with him on a variety of subjects. She was released following public pressure and fought back, eventually receiving a court order that she was not insane. She spent the rest of her life fighting for the rights of women and people whom others claimed were insane.
