I have been doing a little studying of the USEF forbidden - TopicsExpress

I have been doing a little studying of the USEF forbidden substances list and here are some curious conclusions- Arnica is a forbidden substance but they call it leopards bane (not a term by which it is commonly known nor is typically the way it is listed on the ingredients of liniments) Camphor is a forbidden substance, so all of you stallion owners who thought you could use Vicks VapoRub in the nostrils are treading on thin ice. Lavender is a forbidden substance- and I am dying to know why! Hops is also a forbidden substance- so all of you competitors that are in the habit of sharing your Sierra Nevada Pale Ale with your horse after a hot day at the horse show better not let the horse drug police see you. Comfrey is also a forbidden substance and for the life of me I can not imagine the harmful over-use of this herb which is considered a cell /bone repair herb unless someone somewhere has been dosing their horse with this intravenously and the horse has developed liver cancer. Meanwhile, I could list off a host of herbs that do similar or can be stronger acting anti-inflamatories that are not mentioned. My conclusion... USEF is weird and FEI even weirder in some of their ideas and you better study your ingredients in your feed and neutraceuticals in depth before you get cited at a show for drugging your horse with herbs!
