I have been going back and forth about how I feel about all of the recent tranny hullabaloo; the only thing Im sure of is that some kindness and listening on all sides really helps. She and Fausto and Marc dialed down the rhetoric and emotional pressure and just explored the topic in conversation. I got the real sense that its not, I wont play nice, but I wont play this game at all, which is fundamentally different. wtfpod/podcast/episodes/episode_498_-_rupaul_charles In all of this, I see so many aspects of the good gays versus the bad gays arguments that used to happen (still happen?) around pride parades. Is it just a rift between people who want to be respectable and people who want to live exactly as they please, regardless of others opinions? (And perhaps provoke thought in a culture that needs it?) I identified early on that I was going to be treated as an outsider because I was a gay kid, but maybe people dont face that as much these days. Its certainly progress to not have to be an outsider if you dont want to be. (Though at this point, its nothing I would choose for myself. ;)
