I have been in the Fire Service for 42 years. I feel pretty comfortable when responding to structure fires, but feel completely out of my element in the wild land arena. Having admitted to this, and seeing the amount of fire in Eastern Washington this week (as well as the rest of the West Coast) I am concerned and keeping my thoughts positive for the thousands of wild land firefighters, both ground-pounders and aviation crews, as well as the Incident Management Teams in place to hope that these fires are swiftly suppressed and the crews are brought home soon.
