I have been in the hospital this week. For those of you whod - TopicsExpress

I have been in the hospital this week. For those of you whod like to know, heres what happened: I had an severe reaction to some medication I was taking Thursday. Thursday night at about 11 pm I went to the emergency room, because the side effects of such a reaction to the medicine we found out included complete organ failure. I came back from the hospital at 2 am, and went to school the next two days. The doctors here told me if it got worse, that was a really bad sign and I needed to come back. However, I had stopped the medication and was determined I was getting better. For those of you who saw me Saturday, at the game or at the haunted house, you may have noticed I looked really sunburnt, when in reality, that was my skin still reacting to the medicine. It had been hard for me to eat all day, and I didnt have the appetite to eat when I got home, so I just went straight to sleep. Sunday I was in and out of consciousness. I couldnt eat, although I tried, I couldnt moved, because my head hurt so much and when I stood I got really dizzy, and I didnt have the energy to do anything but sleep. My skin was completely red, and I was radiating heat. Although we attempted to cool me down, my skin was still burning to the touch, even if I was shivering. Eventually I was woken up and told I had to go to the hospital, now. Everything I did took so much effort. To stand up, to walk, to even put on shoes took me so much longer than it normally would. It was in the elevator when I just finally stopped having any control. The doors opened, but my world was starting to close. My vision started blacking out, I felt my legs giving out, and panic surged through me. Next thing I knew I was sitting on the garage floor, where my Dad had set me to grab all he had dropped to carry me and get the car. I was beginning to feel that panic come back, the increasing heart rate, the hyperventilating, so I said a prayer. A short simple one. I said Im scared, and I need to know Im going to be okay. After that I felt so peaceful, in comparison to the torture I had been feeling previously. I was able to sit in the car, and answer the questions at the emergency room. When they first checked on me, they found an extremely low blood pressure, and a fever of about 103 degrees. I was immediately put in a bed, had blood taken, a shot, and an IV put in pumping as fast as it could go. Throughout the next few days I had a CT scan, an x-ray, an ultrasound, a spinal tap, a skin biopsy, stitches, and my blood taken dozens of times. Each tests was more painful than the next. But, thankfully I recovered quicker than they expected. My skin has somewhat returned to normal, Im out of a wheelchair, and I can eat again. Thank you to every person who took time out of their day to spare a thought wishing I get better. I think it was kindness that really helped me heal quickly. So at the end of this experience, looking back on it, what Ive taken is to really be grateful for the things you have in life, walking, eating, sleeping, etc. But more importantly the people in our lives. From people I barely knew, to my closest friends, theyve all been there for me. Its really touched my heart how many people sent me notes, and their love, and their prayers, and I will remember all of it. Thank you so much for being so supportive
